Advantages of Using Biomass
There are a plentiful amount of advantages for BIOMASS:
1. The US has has an ample amount of biomass. According to scientists, we have such a colossal amount of this energy source that the US has the potential to dramatically increase the use of biomass. US has such a great amount of it that this country could sustainably continue to make 680 million dry tons of biomass year by year up to 2030. According to nrdc.org, "Every year in the United States, roughly 39 million tons of crop residues go unused."[2] These crop residues are the key to creating more biomass. 2. Biomass is easily accessible- it is located in California, the Corn Belt, along the Mississippi River, and in the southern plains. To the left is a map of how well biomass is scattered over the US grounds. 3. Plants can always be grown again, right? Well, biomass is FROM plants! Biomass proves a renewable source. This way, the spectacular source will never run out. An eternal cycle can be relied perpetually. So, good bye, coal and petroleum! This amazing renewability of biomass it irresistible! 4. Biomass takes advantages of the waste produced by our country. Now, although it is quite embarrassing, everyone must admit that America has quite A LOT of garbage. Utilizing biomass gives us a chance to eliminate the colossal amount of excess waste, and yes, manure for cleaner terrains and grounds. 5. This is one of the best reasons of all- the process of creating this magical product is so simple! Many would expect that producing this would take a colossal amount of labor and complex equipment, but in truth, the steps revolve around simplicity....and because the steps are so simple and quick, biomass proves a truly efficient source for our growing nation. |
Our nation is growing with such rapidity that petroleum, coal and fossil fuels simply can not keep up with the pace. But now, seeing all these advantages of biomass, it's clear that this organic matter is about to take the throne for the energy source of the U.S!
